How do you join together the action area and the "customize" area of the software? I am trying to get my PP slides (which includes animation) to stay visible on the screen for the allotted amount of time for the narration. The "customize" section seems to offer a way to do this, but it never seems to work. My slides are beautifully done. They do exactly what I want. But I have no way to control the amount of time that they stay on the screen for narration. Can anyone help?

I don't think this is possible. I have checked the application and loaded a sample file. I was able to customize the time between the slides, but that's it. There is no other configuration other than the output settings for the video.
As you can see in the image below, you can customize the time between slides for the PPT/PPTX files that you have opened, but that's it. You can't alter the file using other feature:
